Editorial Team

Most guides and travel-ticket pages are written by content teams who have never stood in the queue they are describing. OfficialGuides is different. Every destination guide on this site — ticket prices, opening hours, the best entrance to use, when the crowds arrive — is written and kept up to date by one person: a working, licensed tour guide who has guided these sites in person.

Written by a licensed guide, not a content desk

The guides on OfficialGuides are written by Yusuf Sipahi, a licensed professional tourist guide based in Istanbul and registered under the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism (License No. IRO-011037). Yusuf has guided travellers in person for 32 years, and the advice on these pages comes from that field experience: which gate moves faster at peak time, why Tuesday is the worst day at Versailles, the Louvre, Topkapı Palace, the Vatican Museums or the Alhambra, where the official ticket site tends to fail — the kind of detail you only learn by being there, repeatedly, with real visitors.

That first-hand experience is the difference between a page that summarises what is already online and a page written by someone who has actually walked the route, timed the lines, and answered these questions from real travellers on the ground.

How we keep these guides accurate

Prices, opening hours and closed days change every year. Each guide carries a visible “last updated” date, and the figures are checked against the official source for each monument — or, where there isn’t one, the operator’s own ticketing page — before publishing and after every price change. When a detail cannot be confirmed from an official source, it is left out rather than guessed.

Honesty about bookings

Some links on these pages are affiliate links to trusted ticket platforms. If you book through them, OfficialGuides may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. We only link to options we would actually recommend to a visitor standing in front of us, and we always tell you when buying directly from the official site is the better choice.
