Explore Turkish Cuisine With A Private Tour Guide

Turkish Cuisine and Yummy Tastes of Istanbul

Hello! I’m a professional cook and licensed tour guide organizing food tours in Istanbul. My guiding fee is 90 € for a 5-hour gastro tour from the European side to the Asian side. The tour includes a visit to the Spice Bazaar, a traditional food market, an unforgettable continental ferry pass, and tastings of 15 kinds of authentic food and drink from traditional Turkish cuisine, all rich in history and culture. The tours are limited to a maximum of 6 people. We will visit carefully selected, non-touristic places where locals eat and drink. On this tour, you will explore some popular, non-touristic spots on Istanbul’s Asian side, giving you a closer look at the local way of life. Additionally, your guide will provide you with various insights into the country’s history, culture, and social structure.

Who I am?

I was born in 1968 on Marmara Island and have been living in Istanbul for 49 years. After studying Eastern Languages and Tourism at Istanbul University, I spent some time in Salamanca studying Spanish. I have worked for many years in international tour operations, tour leading, and professional tour guiding. For the past five years, I have continued my certified guiding career in my hometown of Istanbul. Meanwhile, I also managed and cooked at my own restaurant in Istanbul, which I operated with pleasure and love for about seven years. As you might guess, besides history, archaeology, botany, and music, I have a special interest in gastronomy too. 🙂

My routes to recommend in Istanbul;

Here are two unique and vibrant itineries that will add more color to your stay in Istanbul:

DAY 1 – Foodie walk from European to Asian side (4 hours); while trying the most popular flavors of Turkish cuisine in the most authentic places, you can also explore two continents together, and enjoy a unique and delightful day both off the beaten tourist paths and without straying from the city’s history and culture. A visit to the historic Egyptian Bazaar, the experience of crossing two continents via ferry and bridge…

DAY 2 – Pera & Istiklal Street + Dolmabahçe Palace + Bosphorus Boat Tour (6 hours); on this tour, you can explore some of Istanbul’s most lively districts that embody a European bohemian spirit. You’ll see the remnants of 19th-century Istanbul’s splendid life, the second oldest metro line in Europe, and the hotel where Orient Express passengers stayed. The tour also includes a visit to Atatürk’s bedroom, the oldest authentic sufi dervish lodge in Istanbul, and offers views of the most beautiful sceneries of Istanbul and the world’s most expensive waterside mansions. A definite must-see jewel of Istanbul is the Dolmabahçe Palace and its gardens.
